There were a real sensuality at that time among female bodybuilder that we more rarely see today.

Back the day, IMHO, a particular mindset of women were drawn into the BB subculture, many that had previous athletic/sports experience – sometime even as a consequence from physical rehab from injury, and being exposed to the concept that femuscle is a positive, rather than a negative thing for women. Whatever. The other factor, and I think this is key, was the (controlled) marketing – mainly by the principle vector at the time: the magazines that popularized the idea to the general public.
