One of the great aspects of having wet and wavy hair with waves is that it can go from being very sleek and straight to achieving a beach-wave look using only a little water. In order to achieve the look of having fresh-from-the-beach hair for an entire day, you will need to be able to master the art of moisture and sealant ratios. While the hair is damp, apply a nickel-sized amount of anti-frizz serum or a light foaming mousse. The mousse is key—it provides the “hold” that keeps the wave from dropping as the water evaporates.
Avoid touching the hair once it starts to dry; constant finger-combing is the fastest way to turn defined waves into a frizzy cloud. When you see that the waves begin to get flatter around mid-afternoon, you should not apply extra product but rather gently stimulate the product you already have applied by spraying some water on your hair. When the time comes for bed, you must braid your hair into two big braids to help maintain the wave formation throughout the night.
