Sounds like a cool idea for a story, Deadly Pixxie!  My vote — "other".

Since one of my pet peeves with popular music is that looks often seem to outweigh actual talent — How about if the main character is an unkown singer who realizes the above fact and uses whatever means in order to improve her looks in an attempt to get ahead?  A variation could be that her manager secretly slips her a potion or formula or whatever to improve her looks without her knowing about it.

Whatever you decide, I hope that you enjoy writing it and I hope that I might have a chance to read it.

If you'd look at the choices, none of them are "pop" stars. They all have some modicum of actual musical talent….and I alreayd did the unknown singer thing in one of my stories and it bombed….

You're absolutely right…but I have to dispute you on the whole open vs. closed toe shoe thing…

If I may paraphrase from two stories that I like…

"She squinted down at the floor and thought she saw something very odd: the sight of the tips of her toes hanging off the edge of her slides, even though her shoes were the right size.  The thick black straps were digging into the tops of her feet as they expanded, their sides beginning to outgrow the slides’ soles, as if the shoes were a couple of sizes too small – which they now, in reality, were…..black leather creaked and groaned as the wide straps of the girl’s elevated slides tried to stay atop of her larger feet, quite obviously too big for those shoes.  The stitching holding the straps to the sides was not tough enough, however.  One strap popped free across her left foot, another snapping free at nearly the same instance on her right.  The remaining strap on her left foot strained and strained, but then gave way with an audible “crack”.  The only strap left now was on Anya’s right foot, but the stitches there were stronger than usual.  Still, her swelling emerald feminine foot, toes thickening as they elongated far past the edge of the slide, heels mimicking that grown to the shoe’s rear, would not be denied its freedom.  The strap was quickly shredded in half, the two halves falling to the slide’s sides as both of her green feet continued their enlargement, the shoes keeping her feet elevated, but otherwise disappearing beneath their smooth, wide emerald soles, toes now half-resting on the restroom’s tiled floor as the black nail polish shrank into rough ovals, light-green uncovered nails forming around the polish." – Gothic Rampage

"He took another look at her legs; they, too, appeared to be expanding at a gradual pace.  He watched her calves seem to become larger, causing the small straps of black leather running up them to shift from their positions, appearing to slither around her lower legs.  Her feet looked like they were starting to stretch out and widen at the same time.  Her toes began to become a little more rounded and thicker as they slowly distended, their tips now over the front edges of her leather sandals.  He watched the straps crossing over her feet beginning to grow more taut as they began to try to stretch along with her feet's growth.  Her ankles appeared to be thickening along with her feet….The leather of her sandals began groaning, "creeeeeeek" 'ing as her feet grew larger and wider.  The straps running up her calves had become very tight as her lower legs pushed into them, making them bulge.  Suddenly one of them violently snapped, but her legs were applying so much pressure that they were trapped around them, even as other straps stretched to the breaking point.  The skin and muscle of her swelling calves were being constricted more and more, the groaning bands of black leather which were still whole pushing farther into her calves.  They appeared to gradually sink into small, curved crevices that her developing legs were forming as they grew and became more and more muscular.  Then another of the bands snapped, and another, and another; each one that surrendered allowed a greater amount of her curving, strong calves to expand further, free from the leather's hold on them.  The last few bands snapped at once, their intergrity compromised by the loss of the other bands, and by her calves continued growth.  He glanced down to the feet below her thickening calves.  Her more round, sexy toes were now almost completely in front of the soles of her sandals, stretching the black leather straps along with them.  Their thin shapes started to warp as her feet grew too long for them to hold in anymore.  The bands of leather began to bite into her feet as they reached their limit of expansion.
All of the straps that used to used to attach her calves to her sandals now broken, he watched her expanding muscular lower legs continue to enlarge, but, at the same time, stay (and acutally gain) more curves and sensuousness…..Her feet were larger than before, still surrounded by the overburdened straps of her sandals.  Their longer, more sensuous and pleasing shapes almost beckoned for him to rub them up and down.  He almost wanted to suck on her round, more firm toes as he saw how much they had changed and grown. " – I'll Have What She's Having.

You cannot dispute the fact that being able to see her feet growing while watching her shoes burst open at the same time isn't like having your cake and eating it, too….it's the best of both worlds!
