KeymasterIt's really good – why wouldn't it be allowed? Because the characters are owned by Archie Comics? Near as I can tell, the comi book companies all take a pretty liberal view of fan fiction and fan art. If they ask for something to be pulled, we'll pull it, but otherwise it's OK.

KeymasterThat's a really great site. It's so idiosyncratic, like it's own little universe.

KeymasterThat's a good link, Vanessa. Glad you've signed up.

KeymasterHere's one I did a while back:

KeymasterI think the most important thing would be to have a dedicated editor/webmaster/middle-man, who would actually run the show from backstage. Is that what you had in mind, Lingster?
Yes, that's what I had in mind, Yatz. I have the ability to run such a site and the temperament to pester people on deadlines. I would also reserve the right to terminate the enterprise if the artists weren't holding up their end, because I wouldn't want to be associated with something that wasn't delivering the promised value to subscribers.
To Chris' point, I think characterization would be very important. I wasn't explicit with that detail, but this would absolutely have to be story-driven serial comic work, not simply art postings.
If the site caught on, I would be willing to add some kind of commission or art market component and pass all net revenue (gross minus payment provider fees) back to the artists.

KeymasterI've pitched something potentially profitable to DCM in the past, but he hasn't taken the bait.
If five quality artists were willing to commit to a weekly schedule, I believe they could band together with a paysite and do fairly well. The key is that there'd have to be new material every weekday. Each would be expected to turn out one finished page of a comic serial every week, on a certain day.
I'd be willing to set this up, run it and absorb all hosting costs for 1/6th of the net revenue after the payment provider's fees. Presumably the artists could divvy up the remaining 5/6ths equally or according to some other metric. I expect that people would pay $10 a month for access, and that it wouldn't be too hard to get 500 to 1000 subscribers. Retention should be much better than with most adult sites, probably 8-12 months on average versus 2-4 for most sites. If the site had 500 subscribers at $10 each, that would work out to something close to $800 per month for each artist.
Or they could set it up themselves – I make no claim on rights to the idea.

KeymasterI thought Cho's work really slipped from the first issue to the last. He had trouble keeping up, I suspect.

KeymasterHe'll come back. They always do. 👿

KeymasterI've been around about as long as Marknew. I had Usenet access in the late 80s and early 90s, but then moved to a small town for awhile and didn't have it again for almost two years, when AOL launched its internet gateway in, umm, early '95? Jim Woodard had started alt.amazon-women.admirers in the interim. I was very surprised to see it, and astonished to find the growth stories there, at alt.sex.stories and other newsgroups besides, and at Ffjel's and Casti's FTP archives. I honestly hadn't known anyone else had feelings similar to my own.
It's hard to believe that it's more than ten years.
Prior to starting my first blog in January of 2002, I tried to take back a.a-w.a, but it was a lost cause. Too many trolls. Forums like this one, HerBiceps, MuscleMayhem, etc. are better, anyway. I offered ZZZ a chance to move his E-Z boards to She Grew! last year, but he didn't want to. Those seem to be fading now, which is sad because they had a unique flavor and good content.
As for DTV's identity – we should let that alone. It's not our business. I admit, though, that I'm annoyed by Fistman's use of feminine pronouns when discussing DTV, even when we're talking face-to-face.

KeymasterAlso one more thing, will this chat sofware, have sound notifications, like when some sends a message or if someone comes in to chat? That way we know someones coming, saying something. Since it would be alot easier to wait while browsing or doin other things instead of having to check everytime to see if someone came in or not.
K, thanx bye.
There are sound notifications now, last time I checked.
