Tara's Lathe and the Alt.univ series here are both series where the universe is shifting, and *only* the protagonists are aware of it.

Why?  I didn't write the stories or ask the question.

Somehow I had missed this story – but I'm glad I caught it here and now – that's good writing.

Sounds intriguing. Any idea what the prizes are?

I've always had the impression just general friendly competiton.

Another (Long, detailed, and IMO funny) resource in the Grand List of Overused Science Fiction Clichés, with Notation for Not bad – if done well, Better be done well, Can't be done well, Sexist clichés, racist clichés, and the special Star Trek Rogues Gallery Clichés.

There's some overlap – the rest is just in the range of 'funny cuz it's true' – <G>

Hmm – Maybe I'm weird. Nevermind, that's a given, but maybe I'm weird in this way I was previously unaware of, but I've always rather enjoyed the long, drawn out stories Better plot and development give me more to play with and enjoy.

I'm just speaking from the untalented readers pov, but I confess, I have always rather liked  the gradual shift from here and now, to a sexier not quite here and now – even in fantasy settings I find myself more likely to enjoy a shift from an expected set of stereotypes to an unexpected change.

I also definitely like future SF – I think it is, again, the ability to fantasize/extrapolate how things got from point A to point B.

I enjoyed it – I'd like to see the men have a little more resistance, but I enjoyed it.

Not that I found would accept the file size – sorry.

    Their one redeeming feature.
