ParticipantUnfortunately, I will miss out on any additional installments for the next five days, due to Thanksgiving. I really regret that I won't get to see another growth scene for a while. Still, this is a great story, and definitely worth the wait.

ParticipantI think that I understand what you are getting at. You're saying that it is possible that the revolution will be programmed to use the DS as a possible controller. It is possible, but it is hard to say. One reason that it's possible is that it would encourage people to buy more DS systems. Another is that the DS has a shape that is already familiar to most people (at least as far s the controls are concerned). There are a couple of reasons that it is unlikely, as well. First, there is the fact that it would likely require extra hardware that, if sold externally, might not sell well. If the extra hardware is internal, then the price of the Revolution shoots up, lowering sales. Another reason is that the games would have to include extra programming to compensate for the different controllers. Like on the Gamecube, this isn't that big of a deal, but it does require more effort and money. Also, this would have to be done on all of the Revolution games. On the Gamecube, you can use the GBA system as a controller, but only for certain games. There are probably more reasons as to why it is or is not feasible, but that is all that I can think of for now. Nintendo will figure something out, sooner or later. Until then, let's just watch and see what happens.

ParticipantFirst of all, I never said that it was a fact. I said that it was a rumor. Also, it would be simple gestures, not full blown swings. For first person shooters, you would aim by pointing the controller at the screen. For swinging a sword, it wouldn't be like real sword fighting at all, because there is nothing to aim at. You would move it in a line on the screen and the character would respond. Again, this is not confirmed. This much I know as a fact: game designers left Nintendo's unveiling of the Revolution's controller full of ideas and possibilities. All sources that I have, both those that have been officially approved by Nintendo and those that have not, say that much.

ParticipantI haven't followed the series at all, so this is beyond my abilities, but could someone write a fanfic about this? Since everyone is complaining (myself included) If figure that doing something along these line would be very popular on this site. More so, since the actual episode was a complete dissapointment. Maybe something along the lines of "the version of the story before WB and the network censors got a hold of it". Again, this goes beyond my scope of knowledge, so I would have a difficult time doing it, but I'm sure that at least a few members here both follow the series and can write well.
Go figure. I can prattle on for days on end about video games, but when it comes to shows like Charmed, I draw a complete blank. And I want to be the one to write the story, too! 😡

ParticipantFrom rumors floating around the net that I've heard, the Revolution's controler is going to be designed so that the game registers that you have moved the controler. In other words, if you are aiming in a first-person shooter, the gun aims to where you are pointing the controler. This, if true, could revolutionize (pun completely intended) the way that some of Nintendo's classic titles work. In Metroid, you aim Samus's gun by moving the controller. With the Legend of Zelda, simple gestures can make Link swing the sword in particular ways. I haven't figured out anything for the other two, but you get the idea, right?

ParticipantNah, you've got to give it a little time. Once people are familiar with the new systems, then the war begins. Nintendo is going to be a late entry, so it won't be a real war. It's more like comparing WWII and the a coup in a thrid-world country. You just don't have a war unless all of the big players (no pun intended) are involved. If you disagree, please don't tell me in a harsh way, I'm just making a horrible attempt at humor. Well, that and the fact that I'm just spouting words for no real reason.

ParticipantI'm sort of glad that I missed it… Sort of… 😐

ParticipantNo. Although I did have some issues with the analogue stick becoming all but useless during Smash 64 bouts. I think that Nintendo goofed on the 64 controllers because they made those way too thin. They also went for an odd design. They're still doing odd designs for controllers, but they're smarter about it now.

ParticipantTwo things: 1) You just described the problem with religious fanatics, and 2) things loose meaning if you don't argue for them. The idea is to walk the fine line in the middle. My controllers stay in good condition, not because I take especially good care of them, but because I control my movements with the controller. In Smash, for example, whenever I am not frantically trying to do something, I always use smooth movements, as opposed to the jerky joystick movements that most people use. In any other game, that is much easier to do. The buttons though, wear out no matter what you do. I have had four controllers over the course of the years that I have had my Gamecube. My first one wore out about two years ago. The other three are still in great condition, even though they are all older than the one that wore out. I guess that it is a matter of your personal style of playing.

ParticipantI've already said this to you, but I'm going to say it again, to get things moving on this topic. This is definitely a good start for a good story.
And now, for a disclaimer of my own: While I did edit this story, I am not perfect (but I try). I'm sure that I did not catch everything. What I did catch, though, I corrected to the best of my ability. So please, if you catch something that I missed, please keep it to yourself. I don't want my flawless image of myself to be tainted. 😉
