I don't understand.  Where was the avatar stored?

Hey, guys, I think I discovered a hiccup in the system.

I remember putting in links to my chapters of Power Play and to Dr. Otto's picture Cats and Dogs when linking it to The Stray.  But when I clicked on these links, I got the old http://www.shegrew.com addy to them, and the old format board saying, "This board is currently unavailable, please try again later."  Will I have to backtrack and correct them so they say "http://shegrew.com/smf" whatever so all teh links are valid?

Yes, links to old posts are invalid.  If I understood .htaccess better I could probably have rerouted all the links, but it's not my strong suit.

I'm going for big and defined, with low body fat for health reasons. My idea is to be so buff that regardless of fat, you can still see muscle, but I want to be low in fat for health reasons. I was figuring 15% arbitrarily.

15% is pretty low for women.  I'm at about 12 or 13% now (and I'm a guy) but if I go much below that it throws off my metabolism and leaves me feeling spent, dizzy if I stand up too fast, etc.  There's nothing wrong with a woman carrying 20% bf – at 18% most women tend to look plenty lean, especially busty women.  (Ahem.)

As someone who probably didn't even get above 10% bf until I was in my mid-20s, I can say that the benefits of very low bf and frequent strenuous workouts are overstated.  I could run 8 or 10 back-to-back 5 minute miles, but I felt like crap.  And there's no social value whatsoever in being able to run 10 miles in less than an hour unless you can repeat the feat 1.6 more times, win a major marathon and get a promotion contract from Nike.

I enabled karma on a lark, just to see how it works.  So I'm not yet familiar with its function.

My hope is that it might be useful down the road for automated content management and bestowing author privileges on Amaz0ns.  😎

Oh, one more thing – once we move to the Amaz0ns.com server, you'll be able to access the forum both through the main Amaz0ns interface or separately, like you do now.  I might – might – even set up shegrew.com to serve as a "wrapper" site to the forum, so people who still wanted to use that URL would be able to.  If I put some text ads across the top of the wrapper frame it  would probably just about pay for itself.

Of course I'll be adding more message boards to serve the broader readership at Amaz0ns.  Interesting times.  Wearing me out, though.

Well, this is only about 1/3 of the move.  I'm going to give the new installation a few days to make sure it's working, and then I'm going to back it up and kill it.  Then I'll restore the database to another SMF installation running as a component under Amaz0ns.  Everyone's user logins will carry over and will function at Amaz0ns.  (If you haven't already created a login at Amaz0ns, please don't, because I'm not sure what will happen to the duplicates and I'd prefer to have as few to fix manually as possible.) So people will have the ability to use the chat room (already installed), make use of the SMF calendar that will be integrated into Amaz0ns, and I'll be able to give authoring permissions to the story writers here, too.

I also have the bandwidth available at Amaz0ns to permit file uploads.  What I have in mind for the file uploads is that images will remain on the server for about a month, but that we could come up with some kind of jury system to so that the most highly regarded material could be moved to a kind of "keeper" gallery.  That won't be available right off the bat, though.

I have a lot of work to do but it's definitely coming along.

Oh, one last thing – I'm not sure yet but I think I might be able to include a spell-checker feature once the whole thing is moved over to the new Webhost.  Which will be nice.

Yeah, the new board does not recognize the old site cookies.

This is my favorite smilie ever.

Well, it's just the default template.  I'll make changes down the road but not right away.  I'm just glad that it seems to be working.

OK, it looks like the move was successful.  Please let me know here if you have any significant problems.

(Avatar problems are not considered significant – 200 x 300 is top end, and even that will exceed the site layout.)

Question: Do you mean strictly as in your own as the author thereof – or can it include works by others that you might have collected?

Reason that I bring this up is, that we had a long thread concerning this highly sensitive (potentially explosive) subject a long while back when a number of stories were (well meaning as it might have been intended) posted without first getting the permission of the original author(s).

I need permission to post a story. That usually means that the actual author extends the rights to publish the story. I am working out a copyright system for the stories, some kind of creative commons license plug-in, probably.
