ParticipantWell, technically she's a Grey elf, since none of the usual AD&D standards exist in the PCC universe. :p
There's about another ten clips of music at that site, by the way. I ordered the CD as soon as it was available.

ParticipantOddly enough, most of my inspiration comes from symphonic works. I've chreographed entire sequences of PCC strips around individual tracks of music; right now I'm addicted to the Kameo: Elements of Power soundtrack (samples of which can be found http://www.kameosoundtrack.com ), and I'm already coming up with sequences based around the majority of tracks on the disc. It really is about the best soundtrack to anything that I've ever heard.

ParticipantYeah, maybe one of these days I'll actually color it myself. 🙂 Nice work all around, guys.

ParticipantMuffin guy, why all the bitterness, the sarcasm?
We're just sharing opinions here. You like the book, I don't.
Other people like the book; other people don't.Which is fine, as long as the debate is presented in a noncombative manner. We may, as he says, all be wrong and not know what we're talking about, but I still don't think that'll keep SH from vanishing again. I'll give this run until 2007 to be generous; if I'm wrong, I'll be the first person to say so, but from where I'm standing, there are far better characters out there for comic readers to get their T&A fix from, and She-Hulk ain't one of 'em. She's just not an evergreen franchise, and never has been.
And I still don't know why my own strip was brought up in this discussion, as webcomics and comic books are two entirely different animals. I don't adhere to any specific genre, which leaves me wide open to explore all of them. I'm also very focused about who my fanservice is aimed at: nobody. Wasn't always like that, but I've been around long enough now that my characters can stand on their own two feet regardless of appearance. I create characters based on my own whims and am beholden to no one, because if people don't like it they can leave, and I'll still be there. The internet is one of the few places where all manner of aesthetics can be realized without money being a factor of influence. The main difference between webcomics and comic books is that if a comic book loses readers, they drop the title; if a webcomic loses readers, in most cases it doesn't make two damns worth of difference.
I also find it rather pretentious that it's assumed that everyone here is irrevocably addicted to femuscle to the point of exclusion of all others; that's not only unrealistic, it's insulting. Many of us are quite able to separate our alternate realities from the real world, and quite frankly, I don't give two damns if a woman is built or not. I'm more interested in the heart and the mind, as anyone who's been around as long as I have can tell you, it's a foolish man who gets roped in by looks.
Seriously, femuscle is tiny wavelength in the entire spectrum of my interests, the majority of which exist outside the realm of art. I'm sure I'm not the only one. As I said, She-Hulk's success (or lack thereof) is neither here nor there to me; I'm not a fan and haven't been in nearly two decades.

ParticipantThat's a good point. It's the same reason I don't have a membership to fbb photosites or anything of that nature. I just don't see a ton of value in a batch of static photo images of FBBs for $10-$15 a month; there has to be a lot of compelling and varied content for me to take the dive. If I already know what to expect every month, it really lessens my enthusiasm.

ParticipantThat's really cool! 🙂 In this age of digital coloring, it's rare to see other mediums used.
Oh, and you gotta post the one you did. It's awesome. :p

ParticipantI'm glad to be an inspiration, but don't discount your own style or abilities. We all have something to contribute, and it'd be a damned dull board if everyone's style was the same. I notice that you tend to be your own worst critic…it's okay to constantly try and get better, but you should also come to appreciate the work you do today. 🙂 For what it's worth, I've always thought your work was fabulous, and your fan art for PCC is often praised in fan letters.

ParticipantGood question; I was wondering that myself.

ParticipantDoesn't matter if it's 1%, 10%, or 50%; the fact of the matter is that virtually 0% are buying it, and it'll vanish within the next year. It's irrelevant to me because I stopped buying comics in 1990, but the point of my post is that She-Hulk doesn't do anything differently than a million other comics just like it. The run a decade and a half ago was a great concept; breaking the fourth wall, focusing on blatant comic satire. The newer releases just don't seem to know what they want to be, and in the end just comes out seeming more confused than anything else. It's a cyclic Ouroboros that pops up every so many years, and every time, the series goes through so many artist changes because nobody seems to be buying into the whole T&A aspect of it, so they have to find the 'right' artist to portray the 'right' T&A that'll draw the fans. But the point is that She-Hulk fans see her more as a character than just a roving titrack, and out of all I've read of the series in its incarnations over the last 20 years, the Byrne series of the early nineties was the best of the lot. She-Hulk is ineffably John Byrne's character, and she really shouldn't be in anyone else's hands than his…nobody else at Marvel gets it right.
You misunderstand; I don't necessarily think that Marvel should pander to the muscleheads (to coin a generic term), and my post history on various aspects of this will show that this exactly opposite to my own line of thinking. But the plain truth is that She-Hulk is constantly mistargeted in terms of writing and concept, and nobody seems to know exactly what she's supposed to be doing, or where the series is supposed to go. They need to put Byrne back on her title, or relegate her to supporting character status.
On the other hand, if they DID decide to have the series appeal to muscleheads, it'd have far more focus than it appears to have now. Better to have 1% of guaranteed sales rather than try to be everything to everyone and end up not doing any of it right. I mean, just who ARE they aiming this series at, anyhow?

ParticipantI dunno how it works; guess it depends on how well you know your audience. I don't have any problems with PCC desktops because my fans care that they're an income source. Even now I still have people ordering desktops from two years ago.
